Notre histoire
A family house in R'cif
How a dar in the oldest quarter of Fès became a guesthouse, and who welcomes you there.
Dar Fayrouz is a family house in R'cif, the oldest quarter of Fès el-Bali. Behind a plain door in a narrow lane, the patio opens to the sky, the rooms look onto it, and the stairs climb to a terrace painted turquoise that looks over the whole medina to the hills.
Yassine grew up around here. When the house was restored, the idea was simple: keep it a home. Four rooms, breakfast on the roof, dinner cooked in the kitchen when guests ask for it, and a photo guide that takes you from the car to our door.
The name, Fayrouz, means turquoise. It is the colour of the terrace railings and of the tiles in the logo, and it is what guests remember first.
